The Long Way Home
Volume 001
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to explain what Keep North is supposed to be, but honestly, I think it’s less about the products and more about the feeling behind them.
Keep North came from the parts of life that have always felt the most meaningful to me.
The quiet campground mornings before everyone else wakes up. The smell of early morning campfires drifting through the trees. Long scenic drives through northern Ontario with coffee in the cupholder and nowhere you need to rush to. Watching the sunset disappear over the lake after a long day outside. Sitting around a fire long after it gets dark because nobody wants the night to end yet.
Those moments have shaped so much of my life.
I first started working within Ontario Parks in 2018, primarily at Bon Echo Provincial Park, and over the years the outdoors slowly became more than just a place I worked. It became home to some of my favourite memories, routines, and experiences.
Even during the years I stepped away to explore other opportunities, I found myself missing it constantly. I missed the simplicity of campground life. The people. The atmosphere. The feeling you get being somewhere outside where life suddenly slows down a little.
Returning to the parks reminded me how connected I feel to this lifestyle and how much I wanted to build something inspired by it.
That’s really where Keep North started.
Not from a business plan or a trend, but from a genuine love for northern outdoor life and the feeling of wanting to hold onto it.
I wanted to create something that felt personal. Something that reminded people of their favourite camping trip, their favourite oversized hoodie, the road trips they still think about years later, or the moments where life felt simple and good.
To me, Keep North is about:
cold mornings,
warm drinks,
campfire smoke,
quiet lakes,
roadside coffee stops,
rain hitting the tent at night,
and taking the long way home whenever you can.
I also wanted to build something proudly Canadian.
Whenever possible, Keep North works with Canadian suppliers, and much of our apparel is sourced from Quebec because supporting Canadian businesses genuinely matters to me. There’s something really important about building a brand inspired by Canadian outdoor culture while also supporting the people and businesses within it.
More than anything, I hope Keep North becomes something people connect with emotionally.
Not just clothing, but a reminder to slow down, get outside more, take the scenic route, and appreciate the simple moments that end up meaning the most.
Somewhere along the way, I realized the outdoors was never really just a hobby for me.
It became the place where I feel most like myself.
And I think Keep North was created from that feeling.
Take the long way home.
